Custom Framing for A Squash Champion in Kerrisdale

Custom Framing for a Squash Champion in Kerrisdale, Vancouver, BC was an awesome challenge we took on recently here at Gallery 88 Custom Framing and Art. Gallery 88  has always given premium creative attention to framing and showcasing keepsakes which acknowledge personal achievements and important milestones in family life. Our recent custom framing job was a collage of photographs, a silver medal and an athlete identification card for a member of the Canadian Woman’s Junior World Squash Team. These were very special memories from The World Championships in Tauranga, New Zealand this past summer.

As you can see we started with red and white linen mat colours that were both in the framed items and in the Canadian flag. We decided to float and shadowbox all the the photographs and the athlete card to create depth and texture. We wanted to highlight the National importance of this event as well as keep a warm and friendly tone because the four teammates, who were from four different cities, became very close over the course of the event.

We cut the mats around all the items in an asymmetrical shape to exaggerate the many and varied shapes and colours in the display. The two crossing ribbons were purposely contrasted both to unite all the parts of the display and to visually connect everything to the red mat and black frame. They also allowed the script on the ribbons to be easily read, further emphasizing the identify the national importance of this event. We also chose to use Ultra glass to maximize clarity and highlight the relief of the overall display. The customer was very pleased with the custom framing!
