About

The Toth family of Gallery 88 Arts
Custom framer at the workbench in the Gallery 88 Arts framing shop

We've been a part of the Kerrisdale arts community since 1991. From our shop on West Boulevard, we represent established and emerging Canadian artists whose work hangs in the National Gallery of Canada and in distinguished private collections around the world.

What began as a small family gallery and framing shop has grown into a place that serious collectors, interior designers, and first-time buyers all feel at home in. Over three decades, we've built lasting friendships with the artists and collectors we work with — always guided by a genuine love for the work.

The framing workshop is the other half of Gallery 88. Pat and Carissa bring decades of hands-on experience and conservation-grade materials to every piece — from original oils and watercolours to photographs, memorabilia, and musical instruments. Whether it's a treasured family heirloom or a recent acquisition, we treat it as if it were our own.

A Note from Our Founder

Gallery 88 has always been a small, family-owned business. Kerrisdale is a historic community that has grown and changed significantly over the years, and we are proud to have been part of it for more than 35 years. Today, we often have the privilege of working with three generations of the same family.

Over the years, I have designed and framed works by Emily Carr, members of the Group of Seven, E. J. Hughes, Jack Shadbolt, and many other artists represented in the National Gallery. We also specialize in needlework, cross-stitch, certificates, diplomas, war medals, achievement medals, Chinese art, and fine art from around the world. In our 35 years, we have framed everything from a soup ladle presented by the Vancouver Symphony to a retiring member, to three violins played by a now internationally recognized musician.

We specialize in framing signed jerseys from every sport, collage framing, and creating displays that commemorate historical milestones, personal achievements, and meaningful moments from any discipline or endeavour.

Our philosophy has always been simple: to do more than our customers expect. We draw upon our decades of experience to provide thoughtful guidance, exceptional craftsmanship, and results that consistently exceed expectations.

We're a family-owned shop, and we take pride in knowing every piece on the walls and every artist behind it. Whether you're starting a collection, looking for the right frame, or just want to spend a quiet afternoon with good art, you're always welcome at Gallery 88.
